After 2G, CAG again slams Government with Father of All Scams…

Another scam stroked the UPA Govt. in the report of CAG titled ‘ Performance Audit Of Coal Block Allocations’ says the govt. has allotted 155 coal blocks to more than 100 private companies including public sector units that accounts to an estimated loss of  Rs 10.67 lakh crore between 2004 and 2009. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India's audit report states that the govt. has allotted 155 coal acreages to over 140 commercial entities without auctioning that costs 10.67 lakh crores lost to the national exchequer.

The audit report titled 'Performance Audit of Coal Block Allocations', reported in TOI on Thursday (22 March), is followed by the uproar of opposition parties and stalled proceedings in both houses of parliament demanding PM to clarify this issue.
With Coal Blocks Scam, UPA which facing corruption allegations related to 2G spectrum allocations, Commonwealth Games and the Adarsh Housing Society, come another bombshell from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).

Question has been raised on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue of coal block allocation as he was holding the Coal portfolio during the period when the alleged scam took place. The estimated loss stated by CAG is six times higher than the presumptive loss figure of Rs 1.76 lakh crore for the 2G spectrum allocation.
CAG in its 110-page draft report taken into account that the lost took place as no auction has been done by the coal ministry to allot 155 coal blocks to the commercial entities. Coal being a natural resource ought to have been allocated to private players on competitive bidding as it brings in more transparency and could safeguard the mindboggling loss to the Government.

While BJP and opposition parties called the UPA government as Loot raj, and referred this scam as the worst in Indian Politics. Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal would make a statement in Parliament and added that it was not a scam. The 110-page draft report is expected to be tabled in Parliament after the Union Budget is passed and the clouds over the UPA government and opposition take over the issue will be clear only after that.

Typical Pattern of Congress on Defending Scam Whether Bofors, CWG, 2G or the latest Coal Blocks.....
First, Deny completely, then take shelter under technicality, then raise legal points, and ultimately try to defend PMO - PM – High command and blame it all on juniors.
Hope the Coal scam, which is father of all the scams, not to follow the same trend.
